As well as this, Derby offers a number of different interesting tours. Being hailed the 'ghost capital of the UK' Derby offers a great ghost tour through the haunted city streets as well as a tour around the crumbling remains of the famous Derby Roundhouse.
  • Alton Towers: Only an hour's drive from the airport, Alton Towers is one of Britain's best Theme Parks. Experience the thrill of Air, the terror of Oblivion and the menace of Thirteen all in this great Theme Park. Enjoy fun for all the family with water rides, mini rollercoaster's and some great kid's entertainment such as Sonic Spin ball and Cloud Cuckoo Land as well as some great dining experiences.
  • Pennine Way: Fancy something more in tune with nature? Explore Pennine way, a 270 mile stretch through 'England's backbone'. Pennine Way offers some exhilarating walking experiences that twist and turn through the Yorkshire Dales and up into Northumberland.

East Midlands Airport is located in Castle Donington in North West Leicestershire and is the 11th busiest airport in the UK. Currently the airport welcomes around 5 million passengers a year, establishing itself as a hub for a wide mix of domestic and European short haul connections. To and from the airport

By Taxi
Taxi's are available from outside the arrivals area of the terminal building 24 hours a day. Phone ahead and book a taxi with Arrows Cars (T: 01332 814 000) connecting you with Derby in 15 minutes and Leicester and Nottingham within 30 minutes.

By Bus
Frequent bus services run 24 hours per day into Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Loughborough and Coalville. It will take you a little longer to get into Leicester (around 60 minutes) however you can be in Derby city centre within 30 minutes. All bus services have full wheelchair access, ensuring every passenger is fully catered for.

By Train
Getting to East Midlands airport is extremely easy, with taxi and bus services connecting the airport to Derby train station, Nottingham train station and East Midlands Parkway it is a piece of cake to get to and from the airport via rail links. For extra convenience, pre-book a shared taxi service from East Midlands parkway for as little as £4.50 per person. This connection will have you from East Midlands Parkway station to East Midlands Airport in around 10 minutes.

By Car
East Midlands Airport is easily accessible from not only the M1 but the A42 from Birmingham, the A50 from Stoke and the A453 from Nottingham. However feel free to put the postcode into your Satellite Navigation System (DE74 2SA).
