Alicante is one of the most popular cities of Costa Blanca (white coast) in Spain. With a population of 300,000 people and good weather all year around Alicante has an exciting and multifaceted cultural scene with shops, bars, restaurants and a lively night life. Alicante not only has wonderful beaches but also offers an excellent variety of museums, a range of different sports and beautiful architecture. There is always something going on in Alicante and the city is ideal for winter as well as summer holidays.

  • Beaches: they can come in all shapes and forms and you will have plenty of options when choosing what sort of spot you want, if you prefer a secluded place you can go and visit La Albufera, or if you want something more open La Playa de San Juan offers 7 Kilometres of golden sand, if you are into scuba diving you can try the shores of the Isla de Tabarca.
  • Castillo de Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara Castle): built in the medieval times the castle still stands upon the rocky Mount Benacantil. Originally built as a defence from pirates and merchants the castle is formatted by dungeons and lookout towers. The castle is a must seen as it is located in a beautiful rocky setting and from there it is possible to see the exquisite island of Tabarca.
  • Isle of Tabarca: Tabarca the only inhabited island in the Costa Blanca (white cost) in Spain. You can take a ferry ride from Alicante and explore the beautiful underwater flora and fauna that listed this part of Spain as a Marine Reserve. You can also walk around the quaint fishing village, and eat in wonderful restaurants that sell delicious sea food.
Airport Info

One of the busiest airports in Spain, Alicante airport receives around 9 million people every year. Located 5.6 miles from Alicante city centre it was first opened in 1967. The airport has now 3 terminals and received flights from over 40 different airlines.

Alicante airport is situated 9 kilometers southwest of the city centre.

Facilities
There is a variety of restaurants and cafes, and a choice of duty free shops as well as a pharmacy. Wi-fi is available in the airport. There is a bureau de change as well as 5 car rental companies. There are long and short-term parking facilities in the airport.

By Taxi
There is a taxi rank in front of Arrivals. Fares vary depending on the time of the day, during night time fares are more expensive and the rates are around €16,00 to Alicante city centre.

By Bus
Frequent bus service runs from the station to the different cities in Costa Blanca (white cost) including Alicante city centre and a single ticket cost around €2,60. You can find more information on www.subus.es.

By Train
There are no direct trains to Alicante airport although there are plans for one to be build in the near future. If you would like to use public transport the best way is to catch a bus from the city centre.

By Car
The airport is located southwest of the city centre and you can access it via A-7 and N-332, it takes an average of 25 minutes by car from the airport to Alicante city centre.
